Recapitalization of Texas Teachers of Tomorrow

Gauge Capital announced that it has recapitalized Texas Teachers of Tomorrow, LLC (“Texas Teachers” or the “Company”) in partnership with the Company’s Founder and President, Vernon Reaser. Texas Teachers is the leading Alternate Certification Program (“ACP”) that enables individuals with content mastery and a four-year bachelor’s degree to become certified teachers by completing a pedagogical curriculum and passing required state exams.

ACPs were initially introduced in Texas more than 20 years ago to increase the supply of new teachers, as the number of college graduates with education degrees was not keeping pace with growing demand. Over the last several years, Texas Teachers has become the largest and most successful ACP in the state, having issued over 30,000 new teacher certificates since its founding in 2005.

“Gauge Capital’s investment in Texas Teachers provides the Company with a value-added partner to help expand our services, strengthen our operations, and better serve both our customers and school districts who seek talented and diverse teachers to lead their classrooms and drive student achievement,” said Vernon Reaser.

Tom McKelvey, Co‐Founder and Managing Partner at Gauge Capital added, “Texas Teachers is the leader in recruiting, training, and certifying new teachers in Texas. As such, we believe Texas Teachers is the best platform to improve teacher quality and to provide school districts all across Texas with a diverse pool of applicants that allows them to better address the unique needs of their classrooms. Texas Teachers is making a lasting, positive impact on the future of the Texas education system and we are excited to be part of this effort.”
