Southlake, TX – Gauge Capital (“Gauge”) is pleased to announce that Urology America (“UA”) has signed a definitive agreement to merge with GI Alliance (“GIA”), a Cardinal Health company and the nation’s leading physician-led gastroenterology practice. With this merger, GIA grows its urology focus with a robust platform of more than 110 providers across 30 locations in four states – Colorado, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Texas. This marks GIA’s second and largest urology acquisition to date, reinforcing its commitment to building a comprehensive, multi-specialty care model.
“When we initially partnered with the physicians of Urology Austin in 2020, we saw tremendous potential to create a differentiated platform in the specialty. Over the past five years, we've successfully expanded from a single-state operation to an extraordinary independent provider across multiple states, serving hundreds of thousands of patients annually,” said David Friedman, Partner at Gauge Capital. “The partnership with GIA represents an excellent opportunity for our physician partners to continue to provide best-in-class care in their next chapter of growth.”
“This acquisition represents an important leap forward in our mission to offer exceptional, integrated specialty care across the country,” said James Weber, MD, CEO of GI Alliance. “Urology America exemplifies the kind of high-performing, patient-focused practices we want to support and grow as part of our broader vision for multi-specialty collaboration.”
"This partnership enables us to uphold our patient-first philosophy while gaining the resources to accelerate growth and continue leading in innovation,” said Rich Goode, CEO of Urology America.
“Urology is a deeply personal specialty where trust and continuity matter,” said Elizabeth Mobley, MD, a physician with Urology America. “This partnership enhances our ability to deliver the spectrum of leading-edge urologic services, while keeping our commitment to focus on compassionate, collaborative, and individualized patient care.”
This acquisition reflects GI Alliance’s broader strategy to support physician-led practices, expand access to advanced specialty care, and create a unified network that delivers superior outcomes across multiple disciplines.
Moelis & Company served as exclusive financial advisor and McGuireWoods served as legal counsel to Urology America on the transaction.
